Collection 01 — Kitchen

Kitchen & Table

Tableware that stacks, made for daily use.

The tableware in this collection is designed around two ordinary problems: cupboard space, and the fact that a plate gets used again and again for years. Every plate, bowl and mug is molded in recycled melamine with a stacking geometry cut into the rim, so a set of four becomes one column on the shelf rather than four separate claims on it. A nested set is easier to count, easier to reorder and easier to carry from the kitchen.

The material is shatterproof, tolerates the heat of a served meal without passing it to the hand, and is light enough to carry outside. It is dishwasher-safe on the top rack and it is not for the microwave or the oven — care we state plainly, because melamine asks for it. Color comes last, not first. We keep the palette small enough that a new piece can join an old set without being announced: chalk, clay, mist, olive, carried across the collection.

A short guide

A short guide to tableware

  1. Stacking is the design

A stackable object is a storage object first. Buy the set whose stack height suits your cupboard, not the one that photographs best.

  2. Know what melamine can take

Recycled melamine handles daily use, a top-rack dishwasher and a table full of children. It does not belong in a microwave, on a cooktop, or under a knife used directly as a serving tool.

  3. Choose two colors, not six

A small palette makes a table look deliberate. Keep one color and one neutral across a set, then let the food supply the rest.
