The height is deliberate. A cereal bowl is often too deep to see over and a soup bowl too shallow to keep warm; at 2.4 inches this one sits between the two, with a wall that thickens toward the foot for stability. The rim is drafted outward by two degrees, so nested bowls make contact on a narrow band and release without a twist. Four bowls, stacked, reach a little over ten inches — lower than a set of dinner plates in the same cupboard. The foot is wide enough to sit still on a cloth and shallow enough that the bowl does not tip when a spoon reaches the side.

Melamine is molded at a temperature that makes color part of the material rather than a coating over it. That matters in a bowl: a spoon does not scratch white lines into the surface, and a chip on the rim, if it ever happens, shows the same tone beneath. The material is shatterproof, top-rack dishwasher safe and light enough to be handed around a table without ceremony.

The shape also earns its place outside. It carries fruit, holds ice and survives being stacked by someone in a hurry on a terrace. It is, in the end, a bowl that expects to be used — and the bowl buyers reorder first.
