Veil 48K Quad-Zone Concealed Duct

A concealed ducted system puts the air handlers above the ceiling or in an attic and delivers conditioned air through short ducts and diffusers. This quad-zone system connects four handlers — 9K, 12K, 12K and 18K — to a 48,000 BTU condenser, covering up to 1,850 square feet with a separate temperature for each zone. At 20 SEER2 it favors flexibility over the highest efficiency figure in the range, and it operates as a heat pump down to -22°F. It suits whole floors, light commercial suites and rooms where a wall head would be the wrong decision. It is the least visible system in the range and the one that asks the most of the plan.

Veil 48K Quad-Zone Concealed Duct · Mini Splits

The visible part of a ducted system is a diffuser or two, and that is the reason to choose it. In a room with a full-height window, a plastered wall or a piece of joinery that must not be interrupted, hiding the equipment above the ceiling is the only way to keep the room's proportion. The handlers themselves are compact boxes with a fan and a coil, sized for the duct run rather than for the room's furniture.

The design work moves into the ducts. Supply and return paths, static pressure, diffuser placement and access panels all matter more than the unit's dimensions; a concealed system that is badly routed is both noisy and hard to service. The installer needs a survey of the ceiling void, a route for the condensate that may include a lift pump, and enough access for a filter change and a coil clean. Where that planning is done, the system disappears entirely.

Four zones on one condenser make this the choice for a whole floor or a small office suite. Each handler has its own setpoint, and the inverter compressor follows the combined load through the day, which is where the running cost is decided.

Care
